Captain Janet Williams
Captain of the Community College Bureau, Janet Williams is a 27-year
veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. As Captain
of the Community College Bureau, Captain Williams, headquartered at LACC,
is responsible for security at all campuses of the Los Angeles Community
College District.
Captain Williams began her career with the Sheriff's Department
in 1974. Following graduation from the Academy, she was assigned
to Sybil Brand Institute where she was promoted to Sergeant. Following
her assignment at Sybil Brand, she was transferred to Lennox Station.
In 1990, she was promoted to Lieutenant and was transferred to the Pitchess
Detention Center's Ranch Facility. As a Lieutenant she also worked
out of the West Hollywood Station, Pre-Employment, Advanced Training Bureau,
and Professional Standards and Training Division Headquarters.
Captain Williams is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's
National Academy. She is a recipient of the Sheriff's Department's
Meritorious Service Award the the first recipient of the Career Achiever's
Award.
Captain Willilams is a member of several organizations, including the
FBI Academy Associates (FBIAA), Black Peace Officer's Association (BPOA),
Peace Officers of Los Angeles County (POLAC), and the California Peace
Officer's Association (CPOA). She is a member of the Professional
Peace Officer's Association on whose Board of Directors she served for
six years. She is also involved with several charitable organizations.
